Summary of the Black Tulip
Cornelius Van Baerl was working as a doctor .
His father was a rich merchant in Hollland ,before he died he said to Cornelius :’son,I want you to be happy ,do something with your life that will bring you peace and happiness.’

Cornelius quit his work and he enjoyed growing flowers ,especially tulips.

There was a new competition where a prize was offered to the person who
Could grow a black tulip .
Cornelius looked to win the first prize .

Issac BOXTEL lived next door to Cornelius ,he was jealous of him because
He was rich and grow better tulips than Boxtel did.
Issaca wanted to win the first prize too ,so he decided to watch Cornelius
And stole the black tulip.

Meanwhile he watched Cornelius through his telescope ,he saw Cornelius DE
Witte handing Cornelius a stack of paper ,he recognize him ,he was a known politician in country.

Cornelius promised DE Witte to keep these papers safe in a box and don’t give them to any man except De Witte himself.

The people in this country follow De witte ,they wanted to kill him .
De witte knew that the letters which had hidden with Cornelius
Would cause trouble for him so ,he wrote a message for him told not to read
These papers and to burn them .
After that ,the people hang De witte.
As soon as Cornelius carrying three bulbs in the palm of his hand ,and jumping happily ,the servant arrived and gave him the message which had written by De witte but before he can read it ,his house was full of soldiers who led Cornelius in prison .
Issac was he who had contacted the government and through his telescope he can saw the three bulbs with Cornelius so he decided to follow Cornelius in prison to stole the black tulip .
There , he pretended to be Jacob Gissels and became a friend with Gryphus the guard in prison.

Cornelius met Rosa the beautiful daughter of Gryphus and they fell in love
Rosa helped him to grow his tulip ,Cornelius decided to plant one bulb and keep the 2 others in a paper and gave it to Rosa ,he asked her to hid it carefully.
When the plant had one leaves ,Gryphus entered Cornelius’s cell and when he saw the pot grabbed it and threw the bulb on the floor and cruched the flower.
Cornelius became upset but Rosa calmed him when she decided to grow the second bulb in her room.
The tulip grow ,it had a very black color ,Cornelius decided to wrote a letter to the president told him that he and Rosa can grow a black tulip .

BOXTEL,by his telescope knew that the tulip had a black color,he entered Rosa’s room and stole the flower .

Cornelius disappointed he asked Rosa to help him.
Rosa went to meet the president she saw her tulip there.
When she had talked her story to the president the prince of Orange arrived
And he heard her

The prince asked his servant to bring Boxtel the man who brought the tulip.
Boxtel surely deny that Rosa was the owner of tulip.
Toconvinc the prince Rosa reached in to the pocket of her dress and took out the 3 rd bulb which was still wrapped in the same paper and handed to the prince.
While the prince examined the bulb he saw the note that De Witte had sent to Cornelius and he was convinced that Cornelius was innocent and he does not deserve behind the bars.
Boxtel fell to the ground ,he had died of shock .

Cornelius had his freedom and married Rosa.
